Psychiatry Residency Overview

Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Puget Sound Psychiatric Center Residency program.

We offer a dynamic and comprehensive graduate medical education program with an emphasis on the individual professional growth of each resident.

Our residents have exposure to a wide ranging clinical population including an almost 160 bed inpatient unit at Fairfax Hospital in Kirkland WA,

We have affiliations with many other area facilities which provide residents with a diverse selection of additional training opportunities. In addition, residents are regularly supervised by our highly productive and energetic faculty.

We are very proud of the rich history of the PSPC Department of Psychiatry and the many specific breakthroughs that have been made at this extraordinary institution.  In addition to the usual psychiatric experiences required by the ACGME, our residents are able to contribute to a wide variety of research projects with gifted mentors who can assist them in the pursuit of their research and scholarly interests.  We encourage all of our residents to participate in at least one research project during training. For residents who plan academic careers as principal investigators in basic and clinical research, we offer a research track which features high-level mentorship and individualized training.

Our program is unparalleled in its capacity to provide training at all levels of the health care delivery system. Our  commitment is to provide the best clinical care to patients from all socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures in an environment that is strongly dedicated to teaching, scholarship and research.

We are thrilled to have the privilege of educating the next generation of psychiatrists and welcome your interest in training here with us at PSPC. We emphasize quality patient care, along with the pursuit of scholarly activity and meaningful research.

Thank you for you interest in our department.
